TERRACE
Attached by party walls, rows of 2 to 4 story houses are individually accessed from the street. Though once the most prolific residential type in London, currently larger developments appear mainly in lower density zones. Generally, narrow plots are mirrored with or without alley access between the backyards. In mixed type estates terraces can appear as single rows forming the boundaries or inner street pattern. Access from street presents variations with front yards, platforms, or enclosed patios. Typically an internal central staircase divides the house into front and back rooms. Staircases parallel to party walls are also in use.
