TOWER COMPOUND
This is one of the most characteristic types in the recent Shanghai/Suzhou urban landscape, both as public and private developments. Towers are paired or merged along party walls so as to maximize the southern exposure. Car and pedestrian routes can be segregated or form interior streetscapes (in larger plots). The use and degree of privacy of the ground level varies: either entirely private with gardens and amenities, or plinths that unify several buildings creating a programmed and altogether more public interface with the street.
